Welkome to the Scale Model Club Cape Peninsula
The idea of our Club is quite simply to promote the aims and ideals of IPMS (The Worldwide Organisation) and to promote Scale Modelling in the Cape Peninsula.
We welcome ALL forms and materials by ANY modeller, we know there's no such thing as an uninteresting model, just look hard enough for the inspiration! Our Club has become more display and collection orientated in line with overseas trends. We do still indulge in friendly (I hope!) competitions, we always found that competitions help to make modellers finish something to bring along!
One of our major tasks is to promote modelling amongst Junior modellers, and here Alic Sandenbergh has done a phonomenal job, running a modelling course for youngsters twice a year. If you know a youngster who would like to spend a week with aircraft and making models during the holidays, leave the details for us on this website and we'tll contact you with the info!! We also do many outside displays and shows, putting on varied exhibitions, talking to the public and trying to recruit new members!
If you're into modelling, but have never considered visiting a Club before, we invite you, at no risk or expense, to come to one of our meetings on the first Friday evening of every month, at 1930 at the SAAF Museum Air Force Base Ysterplaat.
Enjoy the web site, the chances are you are a solitary modeller but if you want a friendly, interesting, social modelling evening out, come and visit our Club!
